The 22nd International Conference on Nucleation and Atmospheric Aerosols (ICNAA 2025) will take place in Vienna, Austria, from August 24 to 29, marking the 70th anniversary of this distinguished conference series. The program will combine rich scientific sessions with opportunities for social exchange, including historical retrospectives on nucleation research and excursions to Austria’s wine regions for informal networking.
Karsa is honored to support this milestone event as a sponsor, highlighting our dedication to advancing atmospheric science and collaborative innovation in aerosol and trace-gas analysis.
Fariba Partovi will contribute a presentation entitled “MPCIMS with uronium for comprehensive trace gas detection.” This talk will showcase a powerful method that combines high resolution Multi-PressureChemical Ionization Mass Spectrometry (MPCIMS) with the novel uronium reagent cation, enabling ultra-trace detection of volatile and semi-volatile compounds under ambient conditions. The integration of high- and low-pressure ionization with the Orbitrap’s high mass resolution provides broad chemical coverage, confident separation of overlapping signals, and accelerated data analysis.
The introduction of uronium as a benign, solid-state reagent marks another important step forward. Derived from simple urea, uronium ions formed through X-ray desorption are stable, humidity-resistant, and easy to handle. Together, MPCIMS and uronium open new possibilities for sensitive, long-term trace gas analysis with streamlined operation and exceptional performance.
This work reflects Karsa’s commitment to developing innovative, practical solutions for atmospheric monitoring. Fariba is looking forward to engaging with colleagues at ICNAA 2025, exchanging insights, and fostering new collaborations. Be sure not to miss her presentation on Tuesday August26 from 16:00-16:20.
